The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, also known as LIHEAP, helps low-income families pay their heating bills. LIHEAP is a grant that offers assistance in the form of a cash grant, sent directly to the utility company, or a crisis grant for households in immediate danger of being without heat.How to Apply: There are three different ways you can apply for LIHEAP, online, on paper, or in person.
You can apply for the LIHEAP benefits online by using COMPASS. COMPASS is the name of the website where you can apply for LIHEAP and many other services that can help you make ends meet.

Abuse reports can be made on behalf of an older adult whether the person lives in their home or in a care facility such as a nursing facility, personal care home, hospital, etc. The reporters may remain anonymous and have legal protection from retaliation, discrimination and civil or criminal prosecution.

The Senior Food Box Program works to supplement the diets and improve the health of low-come seniors with nutritious USDA foods. If you live in Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Lawrence, or Somerset counties and are at least 60 years of age and have a household income at or below 130% of the U.S. poverty level, you are eligible for this program.

If you live in Allegheny County and are receiving Medicaid, you may be eligible for free public transportation (bus, subway, incline) ahead of time tickets, or reimbursement for your use of public transportation/private vehicle, or free door-to-door service when medically necessary via a shared ride. MATP is required by law to provide the least costly, most appropriate transportation service available.
